Adventures in Shakespeare Garden

There are some days when you sit back and realize how much God has truly blessed you, and today was one of those days for me. Not only did one of my dear friends from college come to visit and help me with work out of the goodness of her heart, but we were also able to go explore the Wessington Springs Shakespeare Garden when we were done! It was a perfectly beautiful day with lovely flowers and even lovelier people.

Just chilling out under the vines!

If ever any of you get the chance, I highly recommend that you check out the Gardens. The ladies work so hard to preserve and improve the place, and it is pretty neat that it is the only thatched roof in South Dakota. Be sure to see it if you can!

Falling Leaf Crochet

Greetings everyone! Having had a wonderful day at the Prairie Picker’s Harvest Fest this afternoon, I came home inspired to do some crafting of my own. The result? A leaf dishcloth and matching hot pad!

The hot pad is pretty generic, but it seems like it will be durable. I LOVE the way that the leaf turned out! It is just the right size for a hand. Plus, it was a free (and super easy to make) pattern that you can also find here. Hope you’re all having a great start to your Autumn!

Welcome, Fall!

Here in Wessington Springs, South Dakota, the air has taken on a slight and welcome chill of late. School is back in full swing. Pumpkin spice fills the senses!

What can I say? I love Fall.

One of the things  I am planning to do tomorrow (gotta work today) is this lovely Harvest Fest held in a nearby town, Tulare. Just take a look at all of the cool stuff!

Prairie Pickers Harvest Fest has something for everyone!

What are you planning to do to kick off the Fall season? Cheers!

Seeing Stars – Star Stitch Dishcloth Pattern

Let me just begin by saying that 6 day holidays are amazing for teachers. Not only did I get to come home from work today at 6:00, but I also had time to visit friends and family over the break! PLUS I had time to try out a new pattern I’ve been wanting to try:

20-2

Stars by Drops Design!

While I did find this pattern a little bit difficult to understand at first, it worked itself up really quickly once I figure it out. It creates a very thick fabric, so it could definitely be used as a potholder even though I made it a dishcloth. If you are interested, you can find the free pattern here.

Well, I smell my coffee and have a pile of papers to grade. Off to work!
